Cedar shakes and shingles manufactured by members of the Cedar Shake & Shingle Bureau ("CSSB") are the only products labeled with the "Certi" brand name. Certi-label™ cedar shakes and shingles are manufactured by experienced craftsmen who take pride in their trade and the quality of their product. Despite their varying sizes and sometimes remote locations, member mills are bound together by a rigid quality code. Unannounced independent inspections conducted by accredited third party agencies ensure that product quality is maintained. Products are inspected to conform to various local, national and international codes and standards (contact the CSSB for specific details).
Each bundle of product has the mill's distinctive Certi-label™ tucked under the bundle strap. Asking for "the blue label" or "number one blue label" is not specific enough: CSSB members' products are the only ones with the Certi brand name on the label.
 Certi-Split Handsplit and Resawn Shakes: This high-quality shake features a rough split face and sawn back. Popular on traditional, ranch, vacation homes or non-residential structures designed to blend with the natural and/or rustic surroundings.
Certi-Sawn Taper Sawn Red Cedar Shakes: A Certi-Sawn red cedar shake is sawn both faces but is thicker than a single. The added thickness enables it to be applies as a shake (2 ply with paper/felt interlay), resulting in lower application costs. Many architects like the more defined shadowline of the heavier butt.
Certi-Ridge Hip and Ridge Units: Pre-manufactured, labor-saving caps for hips and ridges. Made from the same red cedar resource as our shingles and shakes for a high-quality, perfect match.
Certi-Last Pressure Preservative Treated Red Cedar Shakes and Shingles: Long-term protection from fungal decay is provided with factory pressure treatment of preservatives that will extend the life of cedar shake and shingle roofs.
Certi-Grade Red Cedar Shingles: This type of smooth sawn, architecturally uniform cedar shingle is preferred for its natural color and tailored appearance and is used on traditional and modern residential and non-residential structures. For use on roofs and sidewalls.
